Yesterday I had a chat with a pastor who asked what I do for a living. I told him and then he commented something about people growing out of youth ministry and how I had found a way to stay in it. That really kinda bugged me and reminded me of the mentality of so many about our profession. Then I read this article today that I think all youth ministers need to think about. It is From Calling to Career: 13 Steps for Becoming a Youth Ministry Professional and addresses how we go about helping the congregation understand that our calling is not a stepping stone nor something only young folk can do.
