Endless Reading Lists

My reading pile has gotten out of control. If I were to organize it, categories would include books I am eager to read; books I feel compelled to read for professional reasons; and books I have to read for the course I am doing. Interestingly, top of my eager to read list is a book on worship called “A Better Way” by Michael Horton. For now I must bury myself in reformation theology.

I did notice though on Walt Mueller’s blog [http://www.cpyu.org/page.aspx?id=76960] a list of books suggested by Dr John Stott for every youthworker to read. I have huge respect for Stott as one of the leading thinkers amongst Anglicans in my lifetime. His list is:

1. Knowing God by J. I. Packer
2. Escape From Reason by Francis Schaeffer
3. Cross Examined by Mark Meynell
4. Knowing Jesus Through the Old Testament by Christopher J.H. Wright
5. Shining Like Stars by Lindsay Brown

If you have not read Knowing God by J.I. Packer, it is a must read! That gives such a great foundation for our theology. Packer is an Anglican. I have always wanted to read books by Schaeffer as he foresaw much of the challenges we have faced in recent years.
