I have come to believe that offering students a different perspective on things, even if it is more conservative than we are currently, can be really helpful. For example, I recommended Joshua Harris’ books (I Kissed Dating Goodbye, etc) to girls when they were struggling with the “need” for a boyfriend just so they would see another side to the matter. It opened some eyes to things they would never have considered otherwise. I had to do this cautiously though and make it clear that I was not pushing a perspective, just encouraging them to think outside the norm.
Mary Kassian, who teaches at a seminary, has written on the effect of Feminism on our society and on Christian women in particular. She challenges some of that in her writing. I ran across her Girls Gone Wise blog which appears to have enough articles to get a girl thinking. She has a book by the same title. Incidently, she is speaking at The Gospel Coalition Conference in April.
