Missing a beat…
I blew it! The best laid plans and all that… The only thing I can say is “I am sorry” and seek forgiveness. What am I talking about? For our recent Fusion meeting, I was convicted that we really needed to spend more time in prayer for each other, for ministries we are engaged in together, etc. So we did just that. It was great, though perhaps a little long for some. Being the dork that I am, I totally overlooked taking the time to pray over our departing brothers. It was Tim Evans and Michael McIntyre’s final Fusion meeting as both are heading into new positions. We should have gathered around them, laid hands on, and prayed for their transitions, given thanks for their ministries with us (which most of us have been greatly blessed by) and prayed that they would know God’s presence as they settle into new places of ministry. I blew it. Now, to make matters worse, I never realized this oversight, it was pointed out to me. In other words, I am double dork on this one. I am however very grateful that there are brothers in our midst who love me enough to point out my mistakes (and with grace I may add). The lesson here is twofold. When one makes a mistake, it is best to apologize and seek forgiveness right away. The other part is that we need each other to help us in areas where we blow it. This is especially true when dealing with a pastorally challenged person like myself.
