Interpreting criticism

Seth Godin makes a good point about criticism that I think really needs to connect to our thinking about youth ministry… for example… too many in youth ministry cave to the idea that kids have an attention span of about 10 minutes.

Criticism of your idea is usually based on assumptions about the world as it is. Jackson Pollock could never have made it as an painter in the world as it was. And Harry Potter was rejected by just about everyone because for it to succeed the way kids read would have to change.

nice, on that point i'm reading "Dug Down Deep" which actually talks a lot about youth ministry. The author said his old youth pastor is teaching the high school group through grundem's systematic theology! How's that for a book study.

point aside if you haven't yet Dug Down Deep is an excellent read.
